Visiting the school at the equator
Here comes some more pictures from the visit to the Ugandan school at the equator, which was financed via our customers’ purchases of donation packages. Today, it is run by a charity organization (NGO) with a focus on education.
Thanks to Johan (in the photo below) for sending us all the pictures. Something that many people tend to assume is that we are a charity organization. We are not. We, Better Globe, are a profitable Kenyan forestry company. We believe that economic sustainability is a prerequisite for a long-term perspective, and that it is just as important as good relations with the local population and other organizations. That is why we use some of the money in the donation package, which you as a customer can buy, to finance renovations and constructions of schools.
When the actual construction or renovation is complete, the school is left in the hands of organisations that work with education. Our main partner organization is the charity organization Child Africa, that have operated schools in Uganda for nearly 25 years. They have also received the best NGO award in the category of education. They are the ones who take over and run the schools.
We find it pretty exciting that the school focuses on anti-corruption from a very young age, by including it in the school’s vision:
To help millions of children to get quality education and teach “Honesty and Integrity” as a tool to fight poverty and corruption.
and also in their mission:
To guide, encourage and inspire the children of Africa to become champions of integrity in order to eradicate poverty.
They are convinced that in order to make a real difference, it is necessary to work with children.
